About Us
Before the brick and mortar, FM Western Store was a ten foot by ten foot tent.
Connecting over our shared interest of Western style and Texas history, FM was started on the road, driving from city to city, looking for worn out vintage hats to bring back to life.
We took the hats we found, doing our best to restore them to their original condition, and brought them to a vintage pop-up market on South Congress. Every weekend for almost a year straight, we set up shop under our ten by ten tent, traveling for private and corporate hat events in between. We were steaming and shaping western hats all over the state, and before we knew it, we’d signed the lease for our first store.
July 1st, 2025, we moved into our space here in central Austin, and renovations started the same day. When we designed the space, our goal was to create an environment that didn’t just look like “old Austin” but felt like it, too.
Our focus has always been on bringing an elevated experience to the tradition of hat shaping. We strive to provide you and your group with the most authentic and personally tailored hat experiences available.
